Each player controls one of two cats on connected rolling balls of yarn. The object of the game is to collect as many items as possible to gain points before the timer runs out. Before the game starts, the players choose between cooperative or competitive play. Each player uses one side of an XBOX controller to control his or her character’s movement. Player 1 uses the left stick on the XBOX controller to control his or her direction, and Player 2 uses the right stick. During gameplay, the players will encounter obstacles and items to collect.
We took the long practiced and frequently standardized collection gameplay and literally put a twist on it. By connecting two competing in game character with an elastic band and mirroring the connection by connecting the players themselves with the single xbox360 controller the game creates unique gameplay which thoroughly exploits the players constant corporation, competition, and communication to create an entertaining experience.
The elastic band connecting the two players is a physical manifestation of the players constant conflict with the games vaguely defined corporative and competitive goals. Furthermore the easily recognizable physics of the game seamlessly integrates the rotation theme directly into the core gameplay itself.
The dramatic element of the game is largely expressed through not only the highly themed visuals, but also through its music. The background track reflects and explores the relationship between the vastly different feline characters.
